GRADUATE COLLECTION: FLORA & FAE BRIDAL
Flora & Fae is an innovative, modern, bridalwear brand focused around the gap in the bridalwear market for a multifunctional, customizable wedding dress at an affordable price. The brand revolves entirely around the modern bridal consumer, who loves the idea of a dramatic ceremony dress and a slinkier reception dress, but doesn’t want to break her budget or change her wedding day look completely.
MARKET & CUSTOMER RESEARCH
MOOD & INSPIRATION
A mood of deconstructed romanticism, where American natural deconstruction meets English Romanticism and nature softly collides with victorian architecture. This otherworldly romance works well for customization since it can focus on organic/bohemian aesthetics as well as more structured/classic ones, depending on taste. I was inspired both by organic details as well as influences such as artists John William Waterhouse & Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and fairy tales such as Rapunzel and Thumbelina.
RANGE DEVELOPMENT
The collection features contoured interchangeable bodies and skirts with an extensive range of options for customization. While the bridal separate concept is not new, F&F uses ultrasoft fabrics & contour detailing to reinvent bridal separates at an incredible value with the addition of details that make the fit customizable. The utilization of adjustable details within the garment minimizes fitting appointments alterations costs and allows the bride to personalize her fit. Plus, the focus on the easy switch from a ceremony gown to a reception gown in the marketing strategy sets the brand apart from its competitors.
FINAL DESIGNS
Wildheart SS 2018 is a modern bridal collection inspired by a cross between Victorian fashion and
architecture and details from nature. These inspirations translate into a combination of structured yet flowing garments with contour-based support but soft, comfortable fabrication. Beautiful floral embroidery combined with illusion mesh allows for a beautiful effect of growing flowers across the bodice. Modern shapes such as plunging necks and strappy backs meet classic corsetry construction. Skirts range from princess ballgowns to goddess wraps allowing the bride to create her absolute dream dress for her big day.
